Avonmill recently found a home for my horse in the first viewer to see her - I dropped her off on the Monday and by Thursday someone from Joanne’s extensive waiting list had fallen in love with her! My mare had led a BE dressage section and had lots of jump, and she was wasted due to my lack of time. The decision to let her go was difficult but I’ve known Avonmill for a long time as I got a horse from them many years ago. I was delighted with the daily photos and updates, the levels of care, quick new home being found and levels of interest they generated. I’d highly recommend you read the 22 pages of testimonials on their website and like me use their services if you love your horse and want to do the best for them.

I asked Avonmill for help with an unusual search, to find me a donkey! My dads birthday was looming, and he had always wanted one. My old retired horse also needed a new pal. She found me the cheeky but lovable Elvis! Thanks for your help Joanne, he’s part of the family!

If, like me, you struggle to get your head around selling a much loved horse, Joanne is the woman for you! She is warm and friendly, careful to listen to all your thoughts and hopes for a potential new home. At the same time, she is professional and thorough. She and Ben spent time getting to know and understand my horse, so when it came to meeting potential buyers, I felt they really cared about matching him with the right new home. I was well informed with daily updates and photos, so I felt involved throughout.

Thank you Joanne for your help in finding Jeannie a good home. I have been absolutely delighted with Jeannie since I bought her through Avonmill 4 years ago. Although she was only just backed at the time she has been everything you said you thought she’d be, and more. It has been very difficult to make the decision to sell her because I still consider her to be my ideal horse but work and family commitments have meant that I just don’t have the time to enjoy her. This made the thought of selling her and finding her the right home very worrisome. However, you have made the process so much easier for me and have found her a home that I am genuinely happy to send her off to. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Avonmill to anyone looking to sell a much loved horse to a well matched home.

I'd highly recommend Avonmill Equestrian when looking to purchase. I found my lovely mare through them and couldn't be happier.

Joanne and Ben made sure they had gotten to know her before I came to try her so that they could give me genuine, accurate and honest information about the horse and made sure that she was a good fit for me. When I came to try her they were very friendly, accommodating and the whole process was enjoyable and unpressured. As I went through the process I knew that they were looking out for the best interests of the horse, current owner and myself and were not just in it for a quick sale. They kept her in work right up until I could get her home, sending me regular updates and since I've gotten her home they've been keen to see how I'm getting on and keep in touch. I'm very grateful to them for making the process so smooth and stress free.

Hi Joanne. Star is very well, and we have just one short ride to go before the end of the season. She has really taken to endurance, and even after a couple of 50km plus rides this year, she's still enjoying it and seems to find it easy. She has great self-motivation, and she's athletic and easy to get fit, with a naturally low heart rate - all qualities which make for a good endurance horse. We hit all our targets for this year, including getting our Bronze Thistle Final, and the icing on the cake would be if we got our 500km in competition award as well. Due to a couple of rides being cancelled, we're currently 19km short! However, I won't lose sleep if we have to leave that milestone until next year, as I'm nearing hibernation mode for this year!! I'm hoping we can work towards our Silver Thistle Final next year, but that's quite a big commitment, so if we even get our qualifiers under our belt, that would be good. The photo is of us coming up to the finish at this year's Scottish Endurance Championships at Longnewton in September. We did 56km over two days of very hot, humid, weather, so this is her completing her 56th km, apparently still smiling and looking fairly fresh. (With thanks to Kris Clay of Top Gear Photography for this and the many other photos he took that weekend).
